Have you ever found something that you LOVE even if you aren’t 100% sure why you feel that way?
Something that adds joy to your day, but that you feel a little funny about sharing? (Especially with your “professional” circle of friends, whatever that means for you.)
For me, that thing is fountain pens.
They make writing – which I do, one way or another, as a hobby, job, career, AND vocation – infinitely more appealing to me.
They make my desk and office somewhere I get excited to spend time. (Along with a number of other creature comforts I’ve added over the years). Just seeing them beside me, in their lovely little wooden rack, brings me great pleasure.
I peaked, stumbled, and fell down the rabbit hole in 2020, as one did.
I’d been on the Wonder Pens weekly email list for several years. Partly because their stationary makes me feel connected to Japan (where Kayte and I lived). And partly because they are in and remind me of Toronto (the nearest city to where I grew up).
But I’d never paid much attention to the pens.
To be honest, I’m not sure what changed. All I know is that when it did change, there was no question where I’d be buying from.
And that’s the power of regular emails (and the reason this isn’t just an excuse to show you my pens 🙂
Nibs and ink,
James
