You never know when the clouds looming over a situation are going to part, revealing a sunny, empowering reframe.

My sister, Claire, and I were having a long, long catch-up call the other day.

(We’ve lived in different countries – or different sides of this country – since the late ’90s. So often when we talk, we talk for hours.)

In the midst of reminiscing about the underrated indie Scottish disco punk rock that fuelled our shared youth, she dropped this little slice of wisdom, shared with her permission:

“My previous position was, ‘Well, I made this problem for myself, so I just have to live with it.’ But the obvious better position is, ‘Well, I made this problem for myself, so I’ll have to solve it.’”

Two things you can do with problems, live with them or solve them.

Stagnate or grow.

And the sooner you see it for any given issue, the sooner you can move forward.
