Don’t worry; it’s short. And upbeat.

Like many citizens of the internet (especially marketers), I’ve had a wee dabble with the really quite impressive ChatGPT. It’s the tool that Open AI (the clear market leader) put out in late 2022.

I’ve used it as a new form of procrastination.

I’ve tried to make it talk about me. (Sadly, it can’t).

I’ve entertained near-future speculative-fiction plots filled with doom and existential dread.

You know, the usual.

Through great good fortune, I happen to be friends with Sam Woods, the brains behind Bionic Writer. It’s a Substack blog about what he’s learned while augmenting his work with AI since 2019.

He’s the reason I’m now in the middle of a 3-day, 6-hour workshop he’s running called AI Copywriting.

His reframe for AI (especially ChatGPT) has me feeling a lot better about the whole thing. In essence, it’s like having a talented junior writer to whom you can delegate writing work.

Copy and paste a bunch of raw material in and ask for a summary.

Then ask for bullet points from the summary.

Then ask it to rewrite them to be more emotional. Then to rewrite them again into the outline for a blog post.

Then a script for a short video. And so on.

The way I’ve come to see it, it’s like having a super-smart new friend who never tires of answering your questions.

And who doesn’t like that?

Bots are people too,
