Have you ever tried co-working? Online co-working, that is.
I’m writing this piece in the midst of a glorious, 3-hour session in The Coworking Cove. It’s a beautiful, ocean-themed boutique co-working community curated by my friend Mai-kee Tsang.
Now, I first heard about co-working from friend and SNAP business partner Lianna Patch.
But something in me was resisting.
Not sure what. I think I thought I’d be more distracted, that it would end up being a hang-out session, and I’d get nothing done.
Well, Lianna and I finally tried it the other week in a one-on-one session on Flow Club. Yes, and it was WAY more productive than I thought possible.
(Though I don’t relish the thought of co-working with strangers. So I find the ‘mass’ and unpredictable nature of Flow Club to not be a fit for me, personally.)
Next, I did a totally informal session on Zoom with Karma founder (a topic for another day) and friend Achim Rothe. We discussed how a part of what works is not seeing the other person so much as seeing yourself working on the screen.
(Which makes me wonder if one can do self-co-working sessions, lol. Where you open a Zoom call and watch yourself work out of the corner of your eye…stay tuned.)
My point: If you haven’t tried it, don’t resist like I did. Co-work! It’s great.
And if you’re looking for a safe, gentle space to do so, join me in The Coworking Cove 🌊
Surf’s up,
James
