That’s the golden rule of sticking to a habit:
You can miss once, but don’t miss twice (in a row).
Otherwise, the momentum of not doing the thing threatens to replace the momentum of doing the thing. You’ll teach yourself that it’s okay when it’s not.
So even if it causes you severe discomfort—even if it takes everything you have to get it done—don’t miss twice.

P.S. At least that’s what they say. To be honest, I’m not that hardcore. If I can stick to it, I will. (Like I did today.) But sometimes I can’t. And I don’t think it’s worth beating ourselves up for our human imperfections.
