Maybe you’ve heard of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), but have you heard of InCoWriMo?

That stands for International Correspondence Writing Month.

I hadn’t heard of it until last year. And unlike the NaNo, this WriMo sounds doable. Daily bursts that don’t have to connect.

What’s more, “they” chose February for InCoWriMo. So we haven’t missed it, and if you hate it, it’s the shortest month!

(By the way, I don’t know who “they” are. Yes, I could google it, but it’s a lot more fun to picture a cabal of stationery shop owners cooking it up.)

Speaking of stationery shops, I’d be remiss if I didn’t tip my hat to Wonder Pens in Toronto. They’re the only reason I even know about InCoWriMo (see what I mean?).

Why am I writing about this?

Because when I think about growth (personal, business, community), I think about connection. And when I think about connection, I think about communication.

Now, I love emails (I really do) and hanging out with people. But when I think about communication, I always come back to letters.

So this year, I’m going to do it.

A letter a day, every day, in February.

I think it will be fun. I think it will improve my writing. I think it will deepen my connections, and I think it will help me grow.

Do you want to do it too?

Writing on writing about writing,
James

P.S. If you want to be one of my 28, let me know where I can mail you a letter, and I will.

P.P.S. If you’re going to do InCoWriMo, too, let me know! We can cheer each other on 🙂
