What do “an inspired business” and “an inspiring life” mean to you?

This was an excellent question I got from fellow daily emailer and friend of the list, Rod Aparicio. It was in response to my email low-key announcing my upcoming new podcast.

I’m calling the podcast Away From the Desk. And it’s “for founders and solopreneurs who believe that the best way to build an inspired business is to live an inspiring life.”

So here’s my (slightly tweaked) answer to Rod:

What “an inspired business” and “an inspiring life” are is open to interpretation. In my mind, it means “not the usual kind.”

I want the chance to talk to my target market about not business.

Those conversations are my zone of genius, for sure, and I want a regular way/reason to spend time in that zone. In-person meetings would be great, but I hardly ever go to events.

(Because the local ones are few and far between, and getting anywhere else is expensive and time-consuming.)

I want the conversations on the podcast to be the conversations we’d have if we met at a conference. Or a bar. Or a bar at a conference.

Sure, a little bit about business, but then about you. What is your passion? Your hobbies? Your lifestyle?

That’s a big part, actually. I love hearing about how people who are free to do so organize their days/weeks/years. (Because they are self-employed/business owners.) What are their hours? Do they have a big routine? Is it all flow? Etc.

If that makes you want to be a guest, let me know!

Genius time,
James

P.S. Planning to launch in March 2024, date TBD.
