Have you ever heard of The Misogi Method? It’s a Western adaptation of an ancient Japanese Shinto ritual purification practice.

Its purpose is to test your limits.

I read about it in this post on LinkedIn from Jade Bonacolta.

And I’m intrigued!

I can’t stop thinking about a statement she made in the lead-up to describing the method.

“If you don’t test your limits, your limits actually shrink.”

So, the logic goes, what better way to ensure you test your limits than to do it intentionally?

There are only two rules to follow when setting up a misogi:

  1. It has to be extremely difficult (with a 50% chance of success).
  2. You can’t die. (i.e., it has to be safe).

The idea is to get to the point where you think you’re at your limit and then surprise yourself when you realize you can actually go a little further.

That realization forces you to ask yourself, “What else might I be capable of that I currently think is out of reach?”

And as you examine different areas of your life, of your business, with this renewed perspective on your limits, who knows what you’ll find you can do?

Limitlessly,
James
