Have you ever toyed with the idea of starting a podcast? Or do you have one now? Or maybe you, like me, used to have one and are thinking of getting back on the mic?

Here are the two things I loved most about having a podcast (and why I think I’m on the verge of starting one again).

1 – Having an excuse to reach out to interesting people and ask to have a conversation.

2 – Being able to say things like, “I can’t do it on Fridays, because that’s when I record my podcast.” Or “ha, I talked about that with so-and-so on my podcast last week!”

There are lots of other practical, logical, and sensible reasons to have podcasts, but it’s those two I miss the most. (Plus the sheer fun of making them.)

That’s why I’m super-stoked to be starting a podcast challenge next week!

It’s another power-packed Jonathan Stark workshop called the 5-Day Podcast Challenge. And I’ve got a really good feeling that it will propel me into my next podcast.

(I mean, here I am writing my 80-somethingth daily email after taking his Email 365 course 🙂

I’m 90% of the way there with a name and a theme…but that’s a topic for another day. (Like after it’s launched, lol.)

Get-get on the mic,
James

P.S. If you want to be course buddies, registration’s still open for 5DPC. (It closes on Saturday, Feb 11 at 11:59 pm ET.) #notanaffiliatejustafan

P.P.S. My old podcast was The Copy & Design Brew. In it, my graphic designer friend Chris Tompkins and I would drink craft beer and talk about freelance copy and design.
