You might have thought this was going to be a Hallmark-y piece about quality over quantity in your message. It is not.

It’s Tactical Tuesday, the one day of the week where I insist on keeping things focused. On getting down to business. On helping you on your journey to make your website talk.

Where I won’t get distracted tying together business lessons and roast potatoes.

Where I refuse to go on a tangent about gardening, music, or my time in Japan.

So what, then, am I talking about?

TextExpander.

Have you heard of it?

It’s recently come to my attention that not everyone has. And I believe they need to. I believe you need to.

TextExpander is an app that works wherever you type. It lets you use shortcuts (“snippets”) to autofill whatever you’ve assigned to them.

For example, when I type “;one” it writes “https://turnercreative.ck.page/one-creative-moment-signup” (the signup page for One Creative Moment).

“;home” fills in my home address. “;5buy” gives me SNAP’s Buy 5 Credits page URL.

The input field is essentially limitless. (I’m not using anywhere near its capacity for length, complexity, or content type.)

So if your day includes repetitive typing tasks and you’re looking for a way to streamline, check it out!

Expansively,
James

P.S. If you’re a power semi-colon user, you don’t have to start each snippet with one. I just do because it makes it unlikely I’ll trigger them by accident.

P.P.S. Here’s a great primer on using TextExpander.
