If you’re having trouble trying something new, this might help.

Think of it as an experimental journey.

Consider these three statements:

A – From now on, I will post every day on LinkedIn.

B – I will post every day on LinkedIn and see what happens.

C – For the next 30 days, I’ll post on LinkedIn daily and see how many likes, replies, follows, connections, and DMs I get compared to the last 30 days.

Each has (at least for 30 days) the same action and outcome.

Yet, at their core, A and B lack substance.

They’re wishy-washy; they’re easy to wiggle out of.

But C! Not even your harshest critic (for me, it’s me) can fault you for that. How could you not keep going?

My theory is that experiments are defensible—particularly when they include constraints, rules, and stated measurement procedures.

On a journey,
James
