If you were born between ~1977 and ~1983, you are one.
This is my (micro) generation.
We represent the trailing edge of Gen-X and the leading edge of the Millenials.
We started our schooling fully analogue and ended high school with digital (printed, not files) as the norm for submitting projects/assignments.
I feel that we have a special role in the world. One of bridging gaps.
We’re old enough to remember the way it was, but young enough to appreciate the way it is now.
(A super generic statement, I know. And one that probably every generation feels applies to them to some degree. And yet, I really think there’s something in it. We’re well positioned for empathy.)
So why am I writing about it?
Because on more than one occasion, I’ve used the term, expecting people to know it. And then I end up setting off lightbulbs in people’s heads instead.
So, if you are an Xennial — and you’ve never heard the term or concept before — I hope this is one of those a-ha moments where your life suddenly makes more sense.
And if you’re not, it’s still interesting to know, right?
Xennially,
James
