If you’ve ever been to a business/networking event, you’ll probably know this is true.
All the best parts happen off the stage, away from the presentations.
I’ve written about this before, lauding the benefits of skipping the planned talks. Yes, and since I went to my first live, in-person business event since March 2019 (!) yesterday, I feel compelled to do so again.
I was at the 2023 New Brunswick Business Growth Summit if you’re interested.
And it was true, again, that the best parts were the non-planned chats with super interesting people in the liminal space between presentations.
Though I did enjoy friend and data visualization expert Ray Harris’ talk, which culminated in his beseeching us never to use the 3D graph display in Excel. (“Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”)
