Have you heard the term “last mile problem” before?
It’s a term from the world of supply chain management and transportation planning.
According to this article (which I’ve not fact-checked), the last mile “is the most expensive and time-consuming part of the supply chain process, amounting up to 53% of total shipping costs.”
Getting from the delivery hub to your door is the tricky part. The part that’s hard to scale/automate.
And it strikes me that AI has the digital version of this same problem.
It can whip up outlines, first drafts, variations, and themes. But then, someone needs to verify that they actually make sense.
Someone needs to get it into its final form.
So if you’re an expert in a knowledge-based industry, this is where you can focus your efforts.
And make sure you don’t forget to charge a premium for it.
After all, it’s the hardest part 🙂
Analogously,
James
